Understanding the Tarot
Over the years I’ve had my cards read many times by legit readers and ones that were not so legit. The tarot deck is extremely complex, but once it is understood, it can be so beneficial for your mind by giving you clarity, validation, and reassurance when needed. Tarot cards are a form of divination, which literally means working with the divine, or your higher self, and is the ultimate purpose of tarot cards.
What is the Tarot?
So, let’s start with the basics of Tarot. The Tarot deck consists of 78 cards. Each card is a different artistic image with a deeper spiritual meaning behind it. The deck is divided into two different categories; the Major Arcana (22 cards), which represents major life changes and lessons and Minor Arcana (56 cards), which represents situations in our day-to-day life. The purpose of the Tarot is to give you guidance, but the answers to your questions are up to you. You must be willing to tune in to your intuition and your third eye to receive the answers you are looking for.
Where to begin?
These are the Major Arcana cards which represent the major life changes and lessons happening in our lives. You can start by first asking the universe or (your means of faith) a question that you’re looking for clarity on or something you need a response to. Pulling these cards can help guide you to the right direction.
These are the ‘wands’ cards. Many times the wands cards are associated with fire energy (Leo, Sagittarius, or Aries), which leads to growth, strength, and an entrepreneurial spirit. These cards are meant to show you to answer the “what next?” question. What is your next step? How will you achieve it? And taking a course of action in order to achieve your goals.
Next, the ‘cups’ cards, which represent your emotions and relationships. What are you feeling in your heart rather than in your head? These cards can help guide your relationships, specifically, your love interests.
The ‘swords’ cards show you that there is conflict occuring or about to happen. These cards represent a lot of tension or frustration in your life. Pulling these cards can help you harness the strength you need in order to overcome your current situation or avoid an in foreseeable one.
Lastly, are the ‘pentacle’ cards, which represent wealth, career goals, and financial success and stability. These cards can help guide you towards your personal goals; long term and short term. Are you ready to make that next career move? Are you happy with what you’re doing? Do you know your divine purpose?
Tarot cards can be purchased in witch shops or on the internet. Once you purchase your first desk, become familiar with the cards and their meanings first and then get into getting insight. I know many people who pull a card for themselves once a week or even once a day. All of those decisions are up to you.
