New York City Travel Blog: Food Edition

New York City! Here it is, your travel guide of all the best eateries in my favorite city in the world:

Breakfast | Spanish | Asian | Greek | Vegan

Breakfast

Blank Slate: Located on Madison Avenue. This spot is the cutest little place to grab a quick breakfast or dine in and get some work done. It’s a small, little nook that has such a calm aesthetic, great food, and decent prices. Check them out on Instagram @blankslatenyc!

The Bluebell Café: Located on the East side, a few blocks away from Madison Square Park. A cute, American resturant with a warm, inviting environment serving up your breakfast classics. Enjoy a cocktail at the bar or dine in and enjoy the quiet ambiance.

Citizens: There are a few locations, Chelsea, Gramercy, Soho, and Montrose. I dined at the Chelsea location. Citizens is an Australian cafe serving delicious ‘brekkie’ foods and is perfect for a quick bite to eat or to sit and enjoy the morning. I ordered the avocado toast which was amazing. The Chelsea location was also extremely cute, vibrant, and filled with plants!

Spanish

Dos Caminos: There are four locations, Times Square, Lexington, Meat Packing District, and Soho. This is one of my favorite spots to get a delicious margarita. They have an awesome happy hour menu including small bites and drinks and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting.

Socarrat Paella Bar: Located in Chelsea. This is one of my absolute favorite little spots (and by little, yes the location is SMALL). A Spanish-inspired menu offering a variety of food, but are specifically known for their paella. They offer so many different types of paella it’s hard to choose just one. They also have happy hour specials on drinks which we love.

Asian

Tao: There are two locations for Tao, Uptown and Downtown (I went to the Uptown location). Serving sushi, Asian, Thai, fusion offering vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options, too! The aesthetic is gorgeous featuring a giant buddha and small pond with a lotus flower. I cannot complain about one thing I ate, but highly recommend the tofu dish (vegan) and the lobster dumplings for an appetizer.

Greek

Kyma: There are three locations in Hudson Yards, Roslyn, and Flatiron. Serving your traditional greek dishes inspired by the island of Mykonos. I dined in the Hudson Yards location and absolutely loved the vibes of the entire place. The bar was so beautiful. We stopped by for brunch and they offer $40 bottomless mimosas, bloody mary’s, or white/red sangria. The portion sizes were great and the food was delicious. And my favorite part was the fresh extra virgin olive oil from the Peloponnese as the table center pieces!

Vegan

Next Stop Vegan: Located in Downtown Brooklyn, I have to say this is one of my favorite spots I’ve ever been to EVER! An entire plant-base menu of authentic latin cuisine. Locally owned, this is a must-try for my fellow plant eaters. We had the empanadas that were stuffed with plaintains, quinoa, and/or vegan mac. I also had the mofungitos which were AMAZING. Definitely check them out!

Franchia Vegan Cafe: Located on Park Avenue. This multi-floor restaurant is perfect for a date night or gathering with friends/family. They have a beautiful Korean decor with an entire mural ceiling. The entire menu is Vegan! It was a bit confusing at first because the menu has your traditional meat-base names, but YES the ENTIRE menu is Vegan. I highly recommend trying some of their vegan sushi rolls (be warned, there so SO many to choose from) and indulging on some of their delicious appetizers.
