DIY Facial with All Natural Ingredients

The winter is coming and if you’re anything like me, then your skin does not cooperate well during the cold months. The combination of cold weather and bad foods can cause breakouts, cracked skin, and inflammation that can be so annoying to get rid of.

After having a bad case of under-the-skin inflammation on my forehead and across my jawline, I tried all my regular facial products that usually get the job done (my forehead literally looked like a crunch bar). I began making my own “home-made” facials with natural ingredients from the grocery store and after just two days of use, my skin has been the clearest it has ever been!

Here is my skin clearing, acne fighting, redness reducing all natural facial you can add into your nightly routine:

The other great thing about this facial is it’s affordable! All you need is turmeric, plain greek yogurt, and honey. Turmeric is known to have antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, helping with inflammation in the skin. It also helps with pigmentation and dark spots. Turmeric brightens the skin and leaves you with that natural glow. Greek yogurt also has anti-inflammatory properties and helps fight breakouts. It naturally moisturizes the skin, which increases elasticity, and prevents wrinkles and fine lines. Greek yogurt is also a natural exfoliate, ridding the top layer of your skin from dead cells because it’s high in lactid acid. Honey contains antioxidants, antiseptic, and antibacterial properties, along with moisturising properties. It helps to deeply penetrate the skin, soften the skin layers and works to remove impurities from your pores. It also helps with acne scarring, leaving your skin bright and beautiful. Let’s get that natural glow!!!

Each product is a 1:1:1 ratio (1 spoonful of each). It’ll almost look like a mustard color and a yogurt texture. If it’s too watery, where it’s sliding off your face, then add more honey.

Apply a thin layer to your skin, be sure to try to avoid reaching your hairline or other facial hair areas (the color can be difficult to get out). Leave on for 30 minutes and then rinse with warm water. If you have a fairer skin complexion, you may notice your skin might have a tint of yellow to it. Don’t panic! Clean your skin with a cleanser (I use Cerave cleanser or I wash my face with Shea Moisture’s African Black Soap). After that, I use a cotton pad and Garnier’s cleansing water to get any lingering yellow residue.

You can apply this facemask 3-5 times per week, or whenever you feel like your skin can use a lil extra attention.
