The Perfect Acai & Smoothie Bowl

This Acai bowl is super easy and delicious! An Acai Bowl at Jamba Juice is $10, here’s how I do it at home to save money and calories! 

Ingredients 

  • 2 Acai Packets (any supermarket should have frozen acai puree packets, check Walmart, Target, etc) -- FROZEN, a bit THAWED

  • 1 Banana (½ to blend, ½ cut into pieces to garnish your bowl) 

  • ¼ cup of frozen fruit (suggestions; mixed berries, mango, pineapple) 

  • ¼ cup of liquid of your choice (I would suggest non-dairy milks such as Almond, Oat and Coconut milk. I have tried making them with Orange Juice and it wasn’t bad!) 

  • TOPPINGS OF YOUR CHOICE: fresh fruit, flax/hemp seeds, granola, Goji berries, banana, nuts, coconut flakes, THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS! 

Directions for your Acai magic! 

  1. Run your frozen Acai packets under warm water just to thaw them out just a little. You still want them frozen as the heat of the blender will melt it as well, so don’t go too crazy! You don’t want your bowl to be super liquidy. 

  2. Add your Acai, frozen fruit, ½ banana and your liquid to the blender. Blend on low or on “smoothie option” until all ingredients are combined. 

  3. You should get a very thick smoothie consistency. If it’s too liquidy, add more frozen fruit! 

  4. Serve immediately in a bowl. What I like to do (inspired by my friend Natalia, who taught me how to make ACAI Bowls) is pour half of the mixture into my bowl, add my toppings and then pour the rest on top, along with another layer of toppings. It adds overall crunch to the bowl and it’s delicious. 

  5. ENJOY! I eat this in the morning, or as a meal replacement whenever I feel like having a light but delicious craving.

 

Smoothie Bowls

Think of Acai’s Bowl’s cooler older sister. I am going to show you the TRICK that makes the PERFECT acai bowl consistency! Why drink it when you can enjoy it in a bowl with your favorite fruits and toppings? 

Ingredients

  • About a cup of frozen fruit

  • A handful of fresh fruit

  • A SPLASH of liquid of choice 

  • Supplemental powders (ground flax seed, protein powder, etc) - OPTIONAL 

  • Toppings of your choice! (same as Acai bowl)
