NOLA, oh how I’ve heard so many things about this place. I have now visited New Orleans twice for Halloweekend and am updating you all with my favorite spots including food, drinks, activites, and more!

Food

We went to the Hard Rock Cafe on Bourbon Street (both times), located in the French Quarter, for a quick bite to eat and dinner. The Hard Rock is a staple across America. The food was good, average, nothing crazy, but definitelty help cured some munchies and is located at the beginning of Bourbon Street.

“Flamingo A-Go-Go”: Located in the French Quarter, on the famous Magazine Street.

Flamingo A-Go-Go was one of the best spots so I made sure to go there again on my second time around. They offered bottomless mimosas for a fee and the rest of their drink menu was awesome (highly recommend the Frose). They also don’t have a time limit so prepare to spend most of your day drinking. The food was also so amazing, 10/10. They don’t play music on Sundays when the New Orlean Saints are playing which is the only downside because it can get a bit quiet.

Le Bayou Restaurant & Oyster Bar: If you’re a fan of oysters, then New Orleans is the place for you. Almost every restaurant had an oyster bar. Our waiter Brandon was absolutely amazing and hilarious. The vibes were great and you can see everything that is going on in the streets. We also were able to bring our drinks with us, so that’s a plus. The food was okay, basic if you don’t order oysters, overall the restaurant was a 7/10.

Cafe Du Monde & Cafe Beignet: New Orleans is home to the beignet! A square fried dough covered in powdered sugar and sometimes other toppings if you please. You can’t go to NOLA and NOT try a beignet. Cafe du Monde is the OG spot for beignets, but there is another chain called Cafe Beignet. I will say Cafe du Monde is better in my opinion, but my overall opinion is that funnel cake is the superior, I said what I said.

Streetcar Cafe: I have to say Streetcar Cafe is in my top 2 places of the best breakfast I’ve ever had. It was so good, we went there twice! This cute little spot is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and had a diverse menu. I stuck with my go-to veggie omelet and home fries, which I will say was the best veggie omelet ever. They had a great drink menu with lots of festive drinks for the season. It was such a cute vibe and gets a solid 10/10 from me.

Drink

“The Beach on Bourbon”: It’s a fairly large size club with good drinks and a pretty atmosphere. There’s a DJ or live music playing at all times of day and the music variety ranges from pop, hip-hop, urban latino, rap, basically everything. They also have screens if you’re in-town during football Saturday’s or Sunday’s to watch College and NFL games while you get your drink on and enjoy the music. I highly recommend trying NOLA’s famous “Hurricane” drink if you find yourself at ‘The Beach’.

Mango Mango Daiquiri: You can find one of these on almost every block! You can get a pint-sized alcohol slush and there are a bunch of choices to choose from. The price and convience of this spot is awesome, the only down fall is that the drinks are extremely sugary and after two I was so parched.

The Club at 503: Beware, this place gets extremely packed to the point where you can’t even move, but the music is just so good. I will say this spot opened around 11PM on the weekend and it was so packed we couldn’t even make it to the bar so hit up a few other spots before stopping here.

Entertainment

The Sazerac House: Shoutout to TikTok for this gem. I signed us up for a complimentary tour of the Sazerac House, home to the original Sazerac that was created in the 1850’s. This is a self-guided tour that takes you through each floor of the building where they make their own Sazerac whiskey as well as rum. You experience different activations along the tour as well as enjoying complimentary samples and learning about the prohibition era and how New Orleans is known for being the city to create the ‘Cocktail’. They even had a virtual bartender that showed you how to make a cocktail of your choice. This was my favorite ‘excursion’ ever and it was so fascinating (and free which we love)!

Earth Odyssey: If you’re a crystal girlie or guy this is the cutest crystal shop in NOLA. It’s so beautiful inside and the energy is amazing. They have a range of crystals, bracelets, necklaces, and you can even make your own crystal necklace, choose a stone and a chain. All the employees were extremely helpful and pleasant and the vibes were just exquisite.

Hustler Hollywood: If you’re in town for a bachelor or bachelorette party or are just looking for something fun to check out in the area, Hustler Hollywood sex shop on Bourbon Street is 2-stories and filled with any and everything you may need for the festivities or if you’re looking to spruce up your date night.

Take a walk along the Mississippi River and enjoy the beautiful views. There is a Riverwalk where you can go for a nice stroll and take in the scenes. If you’re staying near Bourbon Street or Canal Street, this is only about a 15-20 minute walk to get to.
